IMPACT OF HOST COMMUNITY ON IBRAHIM BADAMASI BABANGIDA UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT SERVICES TOWARDS ACHIEVING DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH GOAL

Universities across the globe do not exist in vacuum; they are hosted by communities. Host community–university relationship has decisive impact on the realization of research development mandates of universities. In view of that, this study attempted to examine Impact of Lapai community on the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University’s Management in achieving its development research goal. The study used mixed methods in data collection and analysis. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 descriptive analysis and simple regression test as well as content analysis were used to analyse the questionnaires and interview respectively. The study discovered that Lapai host community has provided a friendly environment for the realization of research development by IBB University without reciprocal benefit being received by the host community. Therefore, the study recommended that researchers in the University should give emphasis to host community-oriented research efforts.
