Curbing Armed Banditry in Nigeria: A Panacea for Good Governance

This paper focuses on armed banditry which has posed a great challenge to Nigeria’s development over the past few years. Armed banditry has greatly distorted Nigeria’s growth in the area of economic, political, social as well as her educational development. Armed banditry if totally eradicated or tamed would enhance Nigeria’s development hence the need to curb the menace. Thus, the study adopts descriptive survey of qualitative research methodology by assembling data from the field; the findings clearly indicate that the amelioration of armed banditry should as a matter of collective responsibility be eradicated if Nigeria must develop. The paper recommends that the government should create jobs for the youth to nip armed banditry in the bud and create a conducive ambience for the attainment of good governance.
